Right now, you are looking at the limited hand-made edition of the figure – turoň. Turoň was an
animal very similar to the ox. During the 17 th century was this animal exterminated. Today you can meet this animal in the form of carnival animal masks in distinctive villages across Slovakia.
According to the tradition, during the spring celebration brings this mask a magical power,
prosperity, very good harvest and fertility. “In this case – creating a limited edition of turoň.
I was inspired by many summers that I spent in Čičmany where I used to see this mask. I was fascinated and inspired by the symbolic meaning of it. This mask was scaring me but it was also something fetching about it. This mask used to play a very significant role during the Easter time and celebration but nowadays is disappearing and vanishing. Every single turoň is made in a different color composition and with slightly different details. Every single piece is hand-made original. I would like to thank Marína Masárová for cooperation. Please do not wash this piece of art in the washing machine and do not dry in the dryer 🙂
“Where turoň appears, there will be a good time”
